What to Expect

What To Expect On Sunday Mornings

Thomas Road Baptist Church exists to bring glory to God by making a positive difference in the lives of people! We are an independent, Bible-based Christian church serving the Central Virginia region for over 55 years. Our worship services are Christ-exalting and joy-filled.

When Do I Come?

Our Sunday morning service times are at 9:15 AM and 11:00 AM. Come early! Parking fills up fast, but tell a parking attendant you are a first time guest and they’ll direct you to the nearest spot. We offer shuttles that will bring you to and from your car if you park over in the LaHaye Ice Center parking lots (they’ll be marked!).  It also gives you a chance to stop by the Welcome Center and get personal attention.

What Do I Bring?

If you have a Bible, bring it! Our Pastors provide teaching based on the Bible each Sunday, and bringing your own will help you follow along. Don’t have one? That’s OK – we also put the passages referenced on our projection screens, as well as provide a limited number of Bibles in the seating area.

What Do I Wear?

While some do wear their “Sunday best”, most folks wear casual and comfortable clothes on Sunday morning. Don’t worry about what you wear – just come expecting a great experience!

What entrance should I use?

Not really, but if it’s your 1st time or two here, the best one is the front – the “Big Columns” one so you can come thru the doors and hit the Information Center that is clearly marked. If you come in the side doors across from the “Nursery” entrance, the Information Center is to the left down the massive hallway. Guest Service volunteers will answer any questions you have and take you where you and your family need to go.

Where Do My Kids Go?

If you have never been to our facility, what’s easiest for you and your family is to go to the Information Center and the guest service volunteers will answer any questions you have and take you where you and your family need to go.

For kids thru 5th Grade there is a check in process using computer kiosks to check in and print labels for families. For Middle/Highschool students, there is a “Self-check” process at each of their rooms – Click HERE to find out more about that process

  • For infants through Preschool: your children will go to “Lower Main Street”, and be well cared for in age-appropriate settings. Kindergarten through Preschool kids will experience both a small group setting as well as a larger group worship and learning experience. Your kids will be registered and will be returned only to you at the end of service.
  • Kindergarten through 5th Grade, will use rooms off “Main Street” in the Liberty Christian Academy area of campus, check in for these children is the same Kiosk check in process
  • Middle School Students (Grades 6-8) will go to the “Power Source Room” and High-School Students look for the “Living Proof Room”.  Each area is an environment designed specifically for that age group. Once there, they can play games with their peers, and then once the service begins they will engage in worship with live band, and engage in small group discussions with their peers and trained leaders.

What About Security?

We take security very seriously. Each child must be registered before entering their group room from Check-In Kiosks located around the campus. Click HERE to find out more about that process
