Jonathan Falwell
Jonathan Falwell is in his sixth year as Senior Pastor of Thomas Road Baptist Church. In addition to leading the 20,000-member church and 250 staff members, Pastor Jonathan is the primary teacher at TRBC’s Sunday morning worship services. Pastor Jonathan also serves as the Executive Vice-President of Spiritual Affairs at Liberty University. Prior to being named Senior Pastor, he worked closely with his dad, Dr. Jerry Falwell, in the daily leadership of the church and its related ministries.
Pastor Jonathan is a published author and writes the weekly Falwell Confidential. He and his wife, Shari, have four children; Jonathan Jr., Jessica, Natalie and Nicholas.
Ben Gutierrez
Dr. Ben Gutierrez serves the church in several areas, including research, writing, and biblical exposition. He contributes to the philosophy of ministry at TRBC. In addition to serving in local churches in various capacities in five different states, Ben has served as the Chairman of the Pastoral Leadership Department in the School of Religion at Liberty University. Currently, he lectures on Organizational Leadership & Management in the Local Church, Healthy Church Life, and Integrity in Ministry.
Ben and his wife Tammy are the parents of two daughters: Lauren Ashton and Emma Jordan.
Johnnie Moore
Johnnie Moore is TRBC’s newest teaching pastor. Pastor Johnnie is also the Vice-President and Campus Pastor of Liberty University, a position he has held for the past eight years. He is actively leading humanitarian and mission projects to over 20 countries. His first book, “Honestly: Really Living What We Say We Believe” was released in September 2011.
Pastor Johnnie is married to his wife, Andrea, a Liberty alumna and native of Brazil.
Doug Randlett
Pastor Doug Randlett is the executive pastor of TRBC. He also serves as the Associate Dean of Liberty Ministry Training at Liberty University. Pastor Randlett returned to Lynchburg in late 2007 after nine years of ministry in Palm Beach Gardens, Florida. Prior to that, he served over 20 years as an Associate Pastor of Thomas Road Baptist Church and at Liberty University as Chairman of the Church Ministries Department.
Pastor Randlett is married to his wife Jane. They have two sons and four grandchildren. His oldest son, Scott, is the campus pastor of Dan River Church, one of Thomas Road’s satellite campuses.
Elmer Towns
Dr. Elmer Towns is the primary teaching pastor of the Pastor’s Bible Class, which he has taught faithfully for 22 years at Thomas Road. Dr. Towns also meets with and leads a prayer group Sunday mornings prior to services. He continually influences lives, through the many books he has authored, as well as teaching at Liberty University. He co-founded Liberty University with Dr. Jerry Falwell in 1971.
Dr. Towns and his wife, Ruth, have three children and 10 grandchildren.
Harold Willmington
Dr. Harold Willmington leads a Sunday night Bible study that progresses through the Scriptures. Dr. Willmington spent 17 years as a pastor before coming to Thomas Road in 1972. That year, Dr. Willmington began the Thomas Road Bible Institute, which is now known as the Willmington School of the Bible. Dr. Willmington has been teaching students about the Word of God for 40 years.
His wife, Sue, appeared on the Old Time Gospel Hour as an interpreter for the show’s deaf viewers. Their son Matt now serves on the executive team at Thomas Road.
Matt Willmington
Matt Willmington is the Director of Ministries at Thomas Road, where he has served in various capacities for 13 years. Prior to rejoining TRBC in 2009, Matt ministered eight years as executive pastor and small groups pastor at West Ridge Church in Dallas, GA. Matt is also a former youth ministry educator for Liberty University.
Matt has been a Christ-follower for 42 years and husband of a kindergarten teacher (Chris) for 23 years. He is also the father of two young adults and one high schooler.
