Middle School

We believe that everyone matters to God and because everyone matters to God, everyone matters to us as well. We exist to help students know God, own their faith and make their faith known to others. We love to have fun, and we always want to be all about Jesus in everything that we do. We believe that we are better together and are all about providing a place for you to build meaningful relationships while learning more about what it looks like to follow Jesus as a middle school student!

We gather every Wednesday night from 6-8PM, with a hangout time starting at 6PM to worship Jesus and connect in groups.

Pre-Service

Students arrive at the ELC parking Lot of TRBC on Wednesday nights at 6pm. After checking in, they are invited to engage in a variety of fun activities set up there and inside in the student ministry area. Every week we provide a free dinner that is catered by area food trucks, restaurants in our community or our team of volunteers.

Service

At 6:30pm, we start to move students inside to the TRS worship space (formerly known as the PowerSource room) for a dynamic worship service. These services include fun and engaging programming elements, powerful and inspiring worship and practical teaching that addresses the real life issues that middle school students are facing.

Groups

Following the service, we gather students in small groups. Students are placed into two types of groups:

Life Groups

We invite students to sign up for a life group if they are committed to attend regularly, take their group seriously and allow their leaders to hold them accountable. Each week our life group leaders help students dig deeper into the message that was shared from stage and talk about how they can personalize it and apply it in their daily lives.

Connection Groups

Students who are not ready to commit to a life group will be placed in a Connection Group. The purpose of these groups is to make a big ministry feel small and provide students with a place to connect to a consistent group of students and leaders.

Both life groups and connection groups are staffed by well trained and pre-screened leaders who are equipped to engage and encourage students to take the next step in their relationship with Jesus.

TR 6th Grade

6th grade students are invited to join us for a special gathering on Sunday mornings during the 9:15 service hour. It meets in the student ministry area and includes games, worship, teaching and group discussion. The goal of this program is to help our 6th grade students build a firm foundation of following Jesus and to provide them with the knowledge, skills and confidence needed to begin to connect to the life of our church as they move into 7th grade and beyond.

Sunday Morning

On Sunday mornings at Thomas Road, we encourage 7th-12th graders to attend a main service and/or serve in one of our ministry environments. We believe that connecting students to multi-generational worship services and helping them discover their gifts and engage in serving are critical in helping them develop a sense of ownership and find a place in the local church beyond their student ministry. If you would like to connect with our team on a Sunday morning or learn more about serving opportunities available for students at Thomas Road, please email us at studentministry@trbc.org.

Baptism

At least once each semester, we host a Baptism Celebration Service for Student Ministry. Students have the opportunity to share their testimony and be baptized by one of their Student Ministry pastors in front of their peers and families. The night also features powerful worship. Students are encouraged to invite their families and friends as we celebrate this important milestone in their lives. After the service, we host a reception for the families of the students being baptized.
