Serve

There are many ways to use your talents and gifts to serve God at Thomas Road! No matter who you are or what you like to do there is a place for you here!

Immediate Serving Needs

While all ministries need essential volunteers to join their team, some are currently in greater need of volunteers to fulfill their unique missions. Come and serve our church alongside other believers, strengthening each other in faith!

Pre-School Ministry

The Thomas Road Kids Pre-School ministry is designed for children & infants through kindergarten. We believe that little ones grow so fast and now is the time to introduce them to the incredible God that made them!

Our nursery is designed for infants and toddlers from 0 – 30 months, while our Pre-K/K environment is for children 2 ½ through kindergarten.

Our team of volunteers participate in games, worship, storytelling, and other hands on learning activities that almost always include jumping, laughing, playing, all while learning more about who God is!

Elementary Ministry

The Thomas Road Kids Elementary ministry is passionate about loving God and doing our part in growing and discipling Christ followers of 5-10 year old kids! We do this through our discipleship plan that is at the heart of who we are. We provide caring and consistent leaders in their lives, have programs that invite them into God’s Story by engaging all their senses and partner with parents, so faith talks go home.

On Sundays, Kid Central and Route 45 minister to 1st-5th grade kids. Mid-week is our Awana program and both programs follow the above 3 values.

All Serving Opportunities

Student Ministry

The Thomas Road Student Ministry exists to help students know God, own their faith and make their faith known to others. We love to have fun and we always want to be all about Jesus in everything that we do. Our volunteer leaders play a huge role in making sure that all are welcome, everyone gets connected to a group and everyone knows that they belong.

You can volunteer with us by joining our guest services team, leading a life group, or serving on our tech team or worship team in our Student Ministry area.

Worship Ministry

The Thomas Road Worship Ministry encompasses four main areas of service: choir, orchestra, Kids Worship Crew, and the Virginia Christmas Spectacular.

We are looking for worship leaders…not just choir members who like to sing or instrumentalists who are skillful but people who are called and committed to serve God with all of their heart, soul, mind, and strength.

Host Team

The Thomas Road Host Team cultivates an environment of hospitality for all who attend our services. Whether it is giving a friendly smile at a door, answering questions about our church at the Connect Center, or directing traffic in the parking lot, the Host Team is an essential component of helping people take their next steps in following Jesus.

If you feel like this is a good fit for you, let us know by clicking below.

Prayer Team

The Prayer Ministry is looking for strong Christian leaders to be prayer counselors for the people in our church. We are looking for people who love others and will be available to pray with them on Sunday mornings during our regular services.

If this is something that interests you, please let us know your availability. There are two positions available every Sunday. There is a prayer table in the Main Lobby and prayer counselors during altar calls. Occasionally, TRBC will hold events where prayer counselors would be needed.

Life Group Leaders

Do you have a passion to help others grow in their walk with Christ? We believe community is important in allowing people to connect with God and others. Our Life Group leaders create environments for people to develop and grow in their relationship with Jesus, together.

If you are feeling led in this direction, we are here to help equip and guide you.

Missions

The heartbeat of every Christian has to be the “Mission of God.” And here at Thomas Road we believe that every Christ-follower is, “Made for a Mission.” That mission is to fulfill the “Great Commission” by taking the gospel (the love of Jesus Christ) across the street and around the world. It is our passion to help facilitate and provide opportunities for you, your family, and your Life Group to accomplish the mission. Here’s the punch line; “it’s not missions unless you’re going.”

So come join with us and together we can “change the world.”

Special Events

Come volunteer where the fun happens. Beast Feast (Wild Game Dinner), Refuel (Church Leaders Conference), Virginia Christmas Spectacular and Large Concerts. These are just a few of the many Special Events where you will want to be involved.

Foster & Adoption

The mission of the Thomas Road Foster and Adoption Ministry is to encourage and support children and families by loving God and loving People. We serve the foster and adoption community by meeting tangible needs through valued donations and sharing the love of Jesus through the gospel. We provide resources for all types of families that help create a safe and caring home for the children entrusted to their care. Each week, we have the opportunity to meet, encourage, and pray over families as they come into the resource center. Additionally, we clean and organize donations so they are in condition to bless kids and families. Our prayer is that as we walk alongside families on this journey they will see and experience the tangible love of Christ.

The Resource Center (located in the Fort Hill Shopping Center) is open on Tuesday mornings from 9:00am-11:00am, Thursday nights from 6:00-8:00pm and Saturday mornings from 9:00am-12:00pm. Come and volunteer with us as we serve the foster and adoptive families in our community!
