Helping you follow Jesus!

Here at Thomas Road, our mission is to change our world by developing Christ-followers who love God and love people.

What does it mean to be a Christ-follower?

We believe a Christ-follower has started following Jesus Christ by receiving the Gospel and being baptized. They have been discipled in the basic knowledge and practices of following Jesus and have become a member of a church family. A Christ-follower is following Jesus Christ everyday by choosing to love God and love people while living out core christian values in their life.

Baptism is an outward expression of an inward faith in Jesus Christ. It symbolizes dying to sin and being raised to new life in Him (Romans 6:3-4). While baptism itself does not save, it is an act of obedience that follows salvation, publicly declaring one’s faith and commitment to Jesus (Matthew 28:19-20). Sign up here

Love God

God’s greatest commands to us as Christians are to love Him with all our heart, soul, mind, and strength, and to love others as ourselves (Mark 12:30-31). Loving God means putting Him first in our lives, obeying His Word, and seeking to grow in our relationship with Him (John 14:15). 3 Key values of loving God

Love People

Loving others reflects God’s love through kindness, forgiveness, and service, whether to friends, family, neighbors, or even enemies (1 John 4:7-8; Matthew 5:44). 3 Key values of loving people

What's your next step?

Have you started following Jesus?

Below are the first steps every believer should take as they begin the journey of following Jesus. If you have any questions, click here to contact a team member!

1. Salvation
Salvation is the gift of eternal life and reconciliation with God through Jesus Christ. It is not earned by good works but received by grace through faith in Him (Ephesians 2:8-9). Jesus, the Son of God, died on the cross for our sins and rose again, defeating death so that all who believe in Him may have eternal life (John 3:16). The first step toward believing in Jesus is recognizing your need for Him—acknowledging that sin separates us from God (Romans 3:23) and that only Jesus can save (Acts 4:12). By repenting of sin, trusting in Jesus as Savior, and confessing Him as Lord (Romans 10:9), anyone can begin a new life in Him, receiving forgiveness and the promise of eternal life.

2. Baptism
The first step toward baptism is believing in Jesus as Lord and Savior, repenting of sin, and surrendering your life to Him (Acts 2:38). Baptism serves as a powerful testimony of God’s transforming grace and a step of faith in following Him.

Have you been baptised? If you haven’t, we greatly encourage you to take that next step. Click here to talk to a team member about getting baptised.

3. Discipleship
Discipleship is the intentional journey of following Jesus, growing in faith, and becoming more like Him over a period of 3 months to 3 years. It involves learning His teachings, applying them to daily life, and helping others do the same (Matthew 28:19-20). The first step in discipleship is committing to a personal relationship with Jesus, spending time in His Word, prayer, and fellowship with other believers (John 15:5). As we grow, we are called to serve, love, and share the Gospel, equipping others to continue following Jesus and making disciples (2 Timothy 2:2).
4. Membership
Church membership is a commitment to actively belong to a local body of believers, growing in faith, serving others, and advancing the mission of Jesus together (Hebrews 10:24-25). While attending church is important, membership signifies a deeper dedication to biblical community, accountability, and using one’s gifts to build up the church (1 Corinthians 12:12-27). The first step toward church membership is professing faith in Jesus, being baptized as a believer, and committing to the church’s mission, doctrine, and fellowship (Acts 2:42-47). Membership is a step of obedience and partnership in God’s work, fostering spiritual growth and connection within the body of Christ.

Are you following Jesus?

After believing in Jesus and committing our lives to following Him, we should be seeking ways to strengthen our faith and live in obedience. Below is a simple reference to how we should live as Christ-followers.

Loving others reflects God’s love through kindness, forgiveness, and service, whether to friends, family, neighbors, or even enemies (1 John 4:7-8; Matthew 5:44). These two commands summarize all of God’s law and guide how we live out our faith daily, demonstrating the love of Christ to a world in need (John 13:34-35).

Love God
Our values as a church directly align to the disciplines we believe every Christian is to live by. Evaluate your lifestyle, seeking to develop habits and disciplines in these areas of your life.

Commitment to Scripture (Psalm 119:105)
We believe the Bible is God’s Word, our ultimate guide for life and faith. As Christians, we commit to studying, obeying, and living by Scripture, allowing it to shape our hearts and decisions (Psalm 119:105).

Culture of Prayer (Jeremiah 33:3)
Prayer is our direct connection to God, strengthening our relationship with Him. We are called to pray continually, seeking His wisdom, power, and presence in every aspect of life (Jeremiah 33:3).

Lifestyle of Worship (Matthew 22:37)
Worship is more than a Sunday experience—it’s a way of life. We honor God in all we do by loving Him with all our heart, soul, and mind, offering our lives as a daily act of worship (Matthew 22:37).

Love People
Our values as a church directly align to the disciplines we believe every Christian is to live by. Evaluate your lifestyle, seeking to develop habits and disciplines in these areas of your life.

Connection to Community (Galatians 6:2)
God designed us for relationships, and we are called to live in biblical community. By encouraging, supporting, and bearing one another’s burdens, we reflect Christ’s love and grow together in faith (Galatians 6:2).

Heart for Serving (John 13, Acts 2, Ephesians 2 & 4)
Jesus set the ultimate example of servanthood, and we follow His lead by serving others with humility and love. Whether in the church or the world, we use our gifts to build up His kingdom (John 13:12-17).

Passion for Sharing (Romans 10:14)
The Gospel is too good to keep to ourselves. We are called to boldly share the hope of Jesus with those who don’t know Him, making disciples and spreading His love to the ends of the earth (Romans 10:14).
